Cookie Consent Form

Cookie Consent Form

Pssst.... It only takes 5 minutes!

In Europe websites that use cookies need to display a notice informing visitors that cookies are being used. Please note that a cookies consent form is necessary only if you are based in Europe or target / advertise / transact with European visitors. You may not need the consent form even in Europe if you do not use cookies i.e. you did not insert third party code that uses cookies and you are not using Google Analytics.

Here is how the cookie notice may appear in a FolioLink Artist Website:

Almost all of our clients add external code to their websites for statistics, social sharing and ecommerce. These codes often use cookies and collect visitor information. For example Google Analytics uses cookies and other social widgets and ecommerce features do this as well. Please assume your website uses cookies to be sure you comply with any European requirements and check local legislation to see if this requirement applies to your region.

A cookie consent form usually includes a link to your Privacy Policy page. You can create a Privacy page using FolioLink's backend Info Pages. Just create an info page titled "Privacy" or "Privacy Policy". Please note that we are not able to provide text for your privacy text or consent form as these are legal matters.

We have added features to the FolioLink service to allow you to embed code that generates a cookie consent form like the one pictured above. When a visitor acknowledges the notice by clicking on "Got it" the notice disappears and stays away for 24 hours.

Here is how to generate a simple or advanced cookie consent banner notice in 5 minutes:

1. Login to FolioLink and go to More Options / Cookie Consent menu

2. The Cookie Consent Option loads a popup window that looks like this:

3. Click the link for Consent Form Customizations to generate a simple or advanced Cookie Consent banner that matches the look and feel of your site.

We recommend that you try different positions for the banner and pick one that will not interfere with your current design.

The easy to use configuration panel allows you to pick a color palette, button style and custom text to match the style of your website. Further color customizations may be possible from our team.

4. If you select the Opt-Out compliance type a revoke feature stays on the screen to allow visitors to change their mind. The Opt-Out form is the recommended consent form in Europe. You can preview its functionality in this screen by clicking on the agree button. Please note many countries in the EU zone require the Opt-Out option but our system will only display it if the visitor is located in Europe. The Opt-Out option will display a simple consent form to people visiting your website outside of the EU zone.

5. We recommend you link the "Learn More Link" to any webpage you think will explain well your use of cookies. Please note the FolioLink service does not use cookies to store personal or behavioral information but third party services you add to your site such as Google Analytics do.

6. Click on the Save Code button as shown below.

7. You will now see a screen like this.

8. Click the Submit button to apply the form code to your web site.

You are done!

Additional Notes:

button the notice will disappear and you will not be able to preview it again for 24 hours. If you are testing a number of design options for your consent form and need to see the form sooner than in 24 hours, either do not click on "Got it" or clear your browser's cache and cookies to be able to preview your site with the form again.
